Explore Middlesbrough’s Modern Art Through Creative Writing
On Sunday 17 February 12.30-3.30pm, mima (Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art) is holding a free creative writing workshop where people can be inspired by works in Middlesbrough’s art collection.
The event, which is being run by local writers organisation Writers’ Block, is aimed at encouraging people to write, speak and share their own personal responses to works by 20th century artists including L.S Lowry, Bridget Riley, Tracy Emin and local artist Glynn Porteus.
Some of the writing created during the session will be included in a new printed guide explaining more about mima, modern art and Middlesbrough’s art collection. Writers who attend the event will also have the option of giving their responses as part of a short film to be showcased at mima.
Refreshments will be provided, and mima’s café will also be open.
No writing experience or knowledge of art is necessary. The event is free but places are limited . Please book in advance by emailing mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org or contact mima reception on 01642 726720.
