Sporting Activities

Aims and Vision

The Works @ Marske Mill is committed to encouraging and developing the existing sporting activities on the site, which presently comprises junior football on the playing field.

As well as continuing this practice, the possibility of locating a skate park on the former hard-standing play area is being considered, subject to securing of allocated matched funding from the Saltburn, Marske and New Marske Parish Council and completing wider community consultation.

Discussions have also taken place with Tees Valley Leisure concerning their expressed interest in being able to use the playing field and other possible sporting facilities on the site, in exchange for Tees Valley Leisure providing The Works @ Marske Mill lane with access to their car parking facilities.

The possibility of using the external space of the site for Duke of Edinburgh Awards Assessment has also been proposed as there is currently no site designated in Redcar and Cleveland for this purpose although a Gold Duke of Edinburgh Assessor is a resident of Saltburn.

None of the sporting activities are expected to have a financial cost for The Works @ Marske Mill, though SCAA recognises that sufficient insurance must be in place to ensure that any potential liability arising from such activity is covered appropriately.
